The BBC has completely revamped its main website ( not for the better . in my opinion !) and in the process has taken the opportunity to revise and re-launch its mobile site for smartphones and pda’s.
Apple help launch fund for iPhone developers
Aptly named the iFund , Apple have teamed up with a firm of venture capitalists to launch a $100 million fund which will invest in software developers who come up with good business ideas for the iPhone.
World’s first made-for-mobile ad ?
Return2Sender was Ireland’s first Mobile Marketing agency , founded in 2000 , and seemingly at the forefront of being involved with the development of the mobile internet in Ireland.
They have produced what they say is the first made-for-mobile ad in Ireland and possibly the world.
Not entirely sure it works for me , but is a great thing to have done !
Ubunto shows mobile open source future
In light of the story about how we are going to have 90 million MID’s by 2012 , this is a really interesting follow on .Ubuntu is a community of developers , around since 2004 , which makes open source software , based on Linux.Their latest product is Ubunto Mobile and they are targeting companies aiming to deliver MID’s this year.
Huge growth predicted in mobile devices
A study by market research firm ABI has estimated that there will be a growth in MID’s ( Mobile Internet Devices ) from around the current figure of just under 3.5 million to around a whopping 90 million by 2012 , world wide.
